Warwickshire County Council’s Country Parks are all set for a magical festive season.
With a programme packed full of activities to entertain the kids (and adults) over the Christmas holidays, ranging from a 'Fairy Merry Christmas' and 'Wonderful Winter Walks' to crafting and making your very own willow angel; there is bound to be something to please everyone.

Naughty Elves Festive Fun Trail at Ryton Country Pools Country Park
T’was the month before Christmas when all through the park, not a creature was stirring….except for the VERY naughty Elves! Come and see what mischief the naughty elves have been up to this year. Can you complete the trail and collect your Christmas badge prize? On collection, make sure you collect your ‘Good Child’ token and post it to Father Christmas at his sleigh in the courtyard. Collect your trail sheet from the Visitor Centre.

WEDNESDAY 5 DECEMBER
Toddler Trundle at Ryton Pools Country Park
A weekly event for the tiniest of tots! Leaf fun, stories, mud pies and collecting treasures will be amongst some of our activities designed for the smallest naturalists. After the walk and activities, head back to The Courtyard Café for refreshments (extra cost for refreshments, exclusive reduced-price Toddler Trundle menu available). A quarterly programme is available from the Visitor Centre giving activity details for each week.
Time: 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m.

Christmas Willow Angel at Ryton Pools Country Park
Come along and create your very own 4ft willow angel! The Ranger will show you step by step, using simple willow weaving techniques, how to make this decorative garden or home masterpiece.
Time: 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.

Natural Christmas at Kingsbury Water Park
Make a variety of festive decorations from natural materials in time to hang on your Christmas tree or decorate your house. Suitable for anyone who loves Christmas, just bring your imagination and a dash of creativity.

Volunteer Saturday at Ryton Pools Country Park
Come along and learn about practical country park management in the best way possible – by getting stuck in! Meeting one Saturday per month, we will undertake a variety of practical work tasks such as pond clearance, fence repairs and hedge laying. This is a great way to meet like-minded people, keep active and help manage your local country park! No experience necessary as full training is given. Please bring sturdy footwear and suitable clothes for the weather conditions.
Time: 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m.

A Fairy Merry Christmas at Ryton Pools Country Park
The Fairies’ Christmas tree decorations have been hidden! It looks like the naughty goblins have been up to no good again! Decorate your own willow Christmas star, then help the fairies by gong on a hunt for their missing decorations. If we find them, the fairies may let us decorate their Christmas tree for them in Fairy Forest and cook some marshmallows over the fire! Suitable for children aged 3 years and above, who must be accompanied by an adult. Under 5’s will need extra supervision during the activity.
Time: 1.30 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.

Winter Walk at Hartshill Hayes Country Park
A 4 mile circular walk taking in the Warwickshire Countryside. See the four counties from the steep hilltop meadow and the fabulous views over the Anker Valley.

TUESDAY 26 DECEMBER
Boxing Day Ramble at Hartshill Hayes Country Park
Guided walk with a Ranger, starting at a wonderful viewpoint overlooking 4 counties, followed by a gentle walk along local tracks and the Coventry Canal, before enjoying a warming glass of mulled wine and a mince pie! Please wear strong, sturdy footwear and suitable clothing.
