Halloween Lanterns at Kingsbury Water Park

Transform willow and hazel sticks cut from the park into spooky lanterns by adding tissue paper and lots of glue. They cast an eerie light, perfect for Halloween. Wear old clothes, you will get messy! Suitable for children age 5 and above.

Autumn Fairy and Elf Adventure to the Magic Kingdom at Ryton Pools Country Park

Come and make a magic willow wand this Autumn and discover what things the naughty goblins have been up to in the woods! See if you can find the key to the magic kingdom and use some wishing magic to see if the fairies are about in fairy forest. An event for children aged 3 years and above, who must be accompanied by an adult.

Toddler Trundle at Ryton Pools Country Park

A weekly event for the tiniest of tots! Leaf fun, stories, mud pies and collecting treasures will be amongst some of our activities designed for the smallest naturalists.  After the walk and activities, head back to The Courtyard Café for refreshments (extra cost for refreshments, exclusive reduced-price Toddler Trundle menu available).   A quarterly programme is available from the Visitor Centre giving activity details for each week.

SATURDAY 10 NOVEMBER

Wild Autumn Evening at Ryton Pools Country Park

Join the Rangers for an evening of nocturnal campfire fun!  Take a look at what animals the night cameras have taken pictures of over the past month and find out about our nocturnal wild animals in the park, some of which you may be lucky enough to see as dusk falls. Enjoy a campfire baked potato and some melted marshmallows before the Rangers lead you to the meadow to have a go at some tracking and stalking games in the dark to finish off the evening with a laugh.  Suitable for children aged 3 years plus who must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring your own filling for your baked potato. Bring a camping chair if you have one.  A family event, under 5’s will need extra supervision.

Time: 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.

Feed the Birds at Hartshill Hayes Country Park

Help the birds this winter by making your own bird feeder to take home with you. We will be using pine cones and a range of natural materials, a family event. It is advisable to wear old clothes. Suitable for children aged 3 years plus who must be accompanied by an adult. Wrap up warm as this event will take place outside.

Time: 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. (or drop in between these times)

Volunteer Saturday at Ryton Pools Country Park

Come along and learn about practical country park management in the best way possible – by getting stuck in! Meeting one Saturday per month, we will undertake a variety of practical work tasks such as pond clearance, fence repairs and hedge laying. This is a great way to meet like-minded people, keep active and help manage your local country park! No experience necessary as full training is given. Please bring sturdy footwear and suitable clothes for the weather conditions.

Time: 1.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m.

SUNDAY 18 NOVEMBER

Coppicing at Hartshill Hayes Country Park

Learn how to coppice and undertake one of the oldest forms of woodland management, dating as far back as the Bronze Age. Suitable sturdy footwear required and wet weather clothing if needed.
