In Get Safe Online Week 2018 (22nd to 26th October) Warwickshire County Council Trading Standards has launched a new video to help budding internet entrepreneurs import safely and protect UK consumers.
We know there are many small Warwickshire retailers who have made a success of importing goods to sell on the Internet, High Street or at local markets, but for the retail novice there can be pitfalls too.
Businesses importing goods are responsible for their safety and could be liable if these products then go on to harm their consumers. Traders can even end up spending thousands on importing products that are not fit to sell and may lose the money they’ve invested.
Warwickshire County Councillor Andy Crump, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety said:
“In Get Safe Online Week we want to protect consumers by helping businesses import safely. Our importer video is designed to help all businesses, but in particular small start-ups, help avoid the problems that are often associated with buying goods online.”
