An inspirational project is aiming to get Warwickshire residents of all ages to come together and share their stories!

Warwickshire Libraries are pleased to present their ‘Our Story, Your Story’ online event, which is now live, with storytellers Richard O’Neill and Kate Colman (of ‘Kate’s Storytree’).

The project is being run in partnership with Libraries Connected and the BBC’s ‘Novels That Shaped Our World’ and sees Richard and Kate sharing their stories online as well as giving insights into their storytelling lives and influences.

Richard will be giving a three-part tutorial on ‘How to Tell a Story’ and both he and Kate have some fantastic tales which are sure to engage audiences young and old.

The ‘Our Story, Your Story’ videos are being shared now on Warwickshire Libraries’ social media accounts and can be viewed on the dedicated ‘Our Story, Your Story’ webpage (visit https://library.warwickshire.gov.uk and click on ‘Our Story, Your Story’).

Warwickshire Libraries want residents to share their stories and celebrate the ancient and universal art of storytelling and its power to bring communities and different generations together.

Councillor Kam Kaur, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Customer and Transformation said:

“At a time when we are having to stay apart to stay safe, this project has particular resonance. I hope that it brings optimism into people's lives and that Warwickshire residents will enjoy this online programme of events.

"It is wonderful to be able to bring different generations together virtually to celebrate the power of reading, share stories and tell the tales of our own shared histories."

Stella Thebridge, Principal Librarian for Schools and Reading at Warwickshire Libraries, said:

"We were thrilled in Warwickshire Libraries to receive funding from Libraries Connected and Arts Council England to enable us to secure these high-profile storytellers, so their wonderful films can form part of the BBC's celebration of novels that shaped our world."
