The Migrant Communities Grant Fund launches on Monday 4 September at 9am. The deadline for applications is Sunday 15 October 2023 at 5pm.

The Fund replaces the former Community Provision of Conversational English Language Grant Fund whilst offering an additional element of supporting newly established groups with setting up their activities.

All applications should aim to support integration of any newly arrived communities, including refugees, migrants and asylum seekers in Warwickshire focusing on the following priorities:

  • Improve access to services
  • Reduce loneliness and isolation
  • Improve physical and/or mental health and wellbeing
  • Promote equalities and inclusivity

Applications for the English language element should also aim to increase and/or sustain the capacity of volunteer English language provision, across Warwickshire for any newly arrived communities, including refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.

  • Improve English language skills
  • Enable learners to access some language provision throughout academic year before they are able to enrol on the mainstream ESOL provision, which is usually in September or January
  • Provide classes that can reach learners who have barriers to accessing mainstream classes such as transport/ childcare issues/ lack of former formal learning
  • Improve access to mainstream ESOL provision by signposting

Examples of the types of items that can be funded by the grant might include, but are not limited to:

  • Venue hire (needs to be at a competitive hourly rate)
  • ESOL teaching resources - for example books, pens, paper and whiteboards
  • Student travel expenses (bus passes or £0.41 a mile and £0.04 additional passenger)
  • Volunteer travel expenses (£0.41 a mile and £0.04 for an additional passenger)
  • Provision of clothing for asylum seekers
  • Provision of social activities

Our intention is that applications will be to fund small scale projects to the value of £100 - £2000. Applicant organisations should be based in Warwickshire and should provide funded services to beneficiaries living in Warwickshire.
