HS2 Phase 2b Design refinement consultation
The Government has concluded a consultation on 11 proposed changes to the design of Phase 2b, the section of the HS2 route from Crewe to Manchester and West Midlands to Leeds.
The changes to the original route have been proposed following design development, environmental assessment, feedback to consultations and ongoing engagement and are a mixture of relocations and realignments, new infrastructure and the introduction of new scope to the HS2 design.
In Warwickshire, the changes proposed are the realignment of the route at junction 10 of the M42 and a maintenance facility at Austrey, North Warwickshire.
The website includes a navigator tool to help identify the location of each of the proposed changes and provide access to detailed plans and visual representations.
The Secretary of State must decide whether to include the proposed changes in the Phase 2b design following consideration of the feedback to the consultation held in late 2019.
As of Spring 2020 there had been no Government decision on the proposed refinements.
Property compensation
Discretionary schemes already available for other phases of the project are now in place for those living along the 2b route.
Scope and Methodology Report
A consultation has been opened to gather views on the Scope and Methodology Report (SMR), a technical document which outlines the approach to the EIA. A separate consultation on the draft Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) SMR is running concurrently.
