Proposed works
These works form part of the Historic Bridge Maintenance Programme.
The works are expected to include:
- stone repair works and replacement of missing and eroded stone blocks
- undertake an investigation and repair works to the settlement at the back of the south abutment.

All new materials will be authorised by Historic England. The external face repair works will be undertaken from a working platform.
The works are needed in order to maintain the highway bridge function for vehicular traffic travelling B4117 Lichfield Road by addressing known defects that are at risk to variable water level during flood events. These works will increase both the service life and strength of the structure and reduce future maintenance costs.
Works are expected to start in spring 2021 (dependant on securing the associated consents and weather) and last for approximately three months.
