Coventry City, Solihull and Warwickshire County councils are launching a business pledge for businesses, to reassure staff and customers that businesses and venues are operating in a COVID-secure manner.

The pledge is being launched now in preparation for the second step of the road map out of lockdown.

By taking the pledge, businesses agree to work towards a number of measures to ensure their premises and staff are taking all the necessary precautions to be COVID secure. The pledge is intended to support businesses to show customers and staff what they are doing and their commitment to a safe reopening.

Through the campaign, businesses who are making additional efforts in their practices can be put forward for promotion as ‘case studies’ and promoted, subject to a review by the local authority.

It is important that the pledge is not seen as an ‘official’ award or accreditation where council or HSE audits have taken place.

The pledge is open to businesses of all sectors, with initial promotion and sign ups welcomed from the retail and hospitality sectors that are phased within the first stages of the national road map to reopen.

For each local authority area, there will be a dedicated web page for information about the business pledge itself, downloadable poster and materials to show their commitment to working towards being COVID secure for their staff and customers and also further support in terms of business webinars and resources to help them reopen and recover.

Businesses will also sign up to a mailing list for additional information and resources around COVID secure measures and where to access support.

We welcome partner support and assistance to promote the pledge and the support available to local businesses through our networks across the sub region. To discuss how to get involved, please contact your local authority partner:
