Vaping

Fires and accidents from electronic cigarettes or vaporizers can be prevented with the following safety advice:

  • Only purchase vaping devices from reputable manufacturers and retailers
    • Avoid counterfeit or cheaply made products.  Verify that they meet the necessary safety requirements and carry CE or UKCA marking.
  • Carefully read and follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper handling, use, and maintenance.
    • If a vaping device isn’t working or shows signs of damage, stop using it.
  • Use the charger provided by the manufacturer or a charger that is specifically recommended for the device.
    • Avoid using incompatible chargers or mixing and matching components from different devices, as this may lead to battery malfunction or overheating.
  • Do not leave vaping devices connected to the charger unattended for long periods.
    • Don’t charge them overnight or when you're away from home.
    • Disconnect them promptly once they are fully charged.
  • Always charge vaping devices on a non-flammable and stable surface to minimize the risk of fire spreading.

    • Store spare batteries safely to avoid contact with other metal objects that may cause a short circuit.
  • Keep vaping devices clean and free from dust or debris that may affect their functioning.
    • Regularly inspect and clean the connection points between the battery and device to ensure a secure fit.
  • Stop using a battery if it becomes damaged in any way.
