North Warwickshire Borough

Cohort 4, Atherstone

A social space for women with multiple and complex disadvantages, such as experiencing domestic/sexual violence, mental health conditions, physical disability, learning difficulties, addictions, financial disadvantage, convictions, or accommodation difficulties. Funding will continue this and also to expand the project to work with Men.

Knitting Group, Wood End

Knitting and socialising group in Wood End, accessible to all local residents and giving them an opportunity to reconnect with others in their community. Funding would provide materials and room hire for meetings.

Phoenix Post Diagnosis Support Group, Wood End

Social and emotional support to carers of those with dementia, and the patients themselves, through weekly meetings to share experiences and support one another as they all travel the same pathway. Funding will continue this and provide support for more individuals.

Hams Hall Wildlife Park

Funding will provide four nature-based wellbeing sessions at Hams Hall Environmental Centre, targeted at people from local communities experiencing social isolation who want to meet new people and enjoy nature at the same time. Sessions would be run by experienced staff and include simple bushcraft activities, basic wildlife ID, guided walks around woodlands and mindfulness activities.

Activities Group, Dordon

Funding will allow Food Family and Fun (FFF) and Veterans Group projects to carry on. FFF runs throughout the school holidays, offering local children the chance to take part in activities such as cake decorating, crafts and discos. The weekly Veterans Group meetings are an opportunity for local ex-servicemen and women to meet for refreshments and to get support and advice from their local Veterans Contact Point.

Knit and Natter Yarn Bomb, Fillongley

The group has grown from a handful meeting fortnightly to over 40 ladies meeting weekly, including carers, a foster mother, widows and some recently bereaved. Funding will purchase materials, including to take out to individuals who do not yet feel prepared to mix with others post-Covid, and to carry on with room hire.

Community Samba Drumming Band, Hartshill

Funding will start this group, which brings people together to learn a new skill at their own pace. Every drumming part, whether easy or challenging, fits together in an ensemble piece and makes everyone feel valued. It is accessible for all ages and followed by tea/coffee and a chat.

SCAMPS Toy Library, Whitacre Heath

A playgroup for children with additional needs, with lots of play equipment on site and plans to offer out equipment to try at home. Funding will go towards a toy library service, to buy a bank of specialist toys and lend them out to families to use with their children.
