On 24 February 2025, the rules that shape how public bodies buy goods and services changed. The Procurement Act 2023 will improve and streamline the way procurement is done, and benefit prospective suppliers of all sizes, particularly small businesses, start-ups and social enterprises.
Suppliers will need to register on the Central Digital Platform in order to be able to locate and bid for opportunities.
While the light touch regime did allow commissioners of NHS healthcare and Public Health services to apply a higher value threshold than that which applies to standard services contracts, and to opt for certain flexibilities it still required a fully competitive process to be run.
