These panels ensure a fair and independent hearing for those parents or carers who are not satisfied with the Admission Authority’s decision to refuse their child a place at a particular school. The panels are a mix of one or two people with educational experience such as being a teacher (current or retired) or a school Governor and people with no experience of the education process at all.
