Introduction
Some children may have a recognised difference from birth. For some children it may become clear as they develop that they have Special Educational Needs or Disability (SEND). All Early Years education and childcare in Warwickshire must make reasonable adjustments for children who have or may have SEND. Childcare providers must have had training to support children with SEND.
Finding an EY Provider for your child
Supporting some children’s transition into their EY provider may take time. This may be because the EY practitioners need specific training, to support your child’s medical needs. It may be because your child needs specialist equipment to start nursery. If your child has needs which require medication to be given, equipment to be in place or manual handling so that they can move around their EY provider safely this will take time, training, and paperwork to complete before your child starts.
For medical needs ask your child’s paediatrician or specialist for advice.
If your child has SEND plan extra time to find a place and get everything ready so that your child can be confident and safe as they start their EY journey.
