Anyone can apply for a copy certificate if they can supply enough information to identify the correct record and pay the fee. However, if we suspect that the application is not for legitimate reasons, we will report it to the General Register Office.

A record is kept of every certificate issued so police and other authorities can be informed if a certificate number is used for fraud or other crime.

The fee per copy certificate is £11.00.

Apply online

Please note – currently there are a limited number of records available to order online. We are in the process of adding more records to this system. You can still apply for copies of these certificates by post or in person.
