If you haven’t done your Christmas food shopping yet or decided what you’re going to be cooking on Christmas Day, spare a thought for the employees of school caterers, Educaterers, who by the end of today will have prepared a colossal 70,000 school Christmas dinners!
This week, the Warwickshire based caterers prepared a delicious Christmas lunch at the 200 schools they cater for across Warwickshire, Birmingham and Oxfordshire, including St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School in Leamington Spa (pictured).
On the menu was a choice of traditional roast turkey or a Quorn fillet, all served up with the delicious vegetables you’d expect (but no sprouts). This was followed by a homemade chocolate Christmas cracknell or the choice of ice cream.
Educaterers employees have been getting everyone in the mood for Christmas by dressing up and wearing Christmas jumpers and Santa hats to serve the pupils their lunches. Lots of schools have organised Christmas jumper days or their Christmas parties on the same day to further raise the levels of excitement!
Schools using Educaterers are treated to special occasion lunch menus throughout the year, which in 2019 included themed lunches to celebrate the Rugby World Cup and Chinese New Year.
Educaterers take care to use locally sourced ingredients including British Red Tractor poultry and free-range eggs and hold the Soil Association’s Food for Life Silver Catering Mark. In 2019, they won the Lead Association for Catering in Education (LACA) ‘Business of the Year’ Award.
Terry Tredget, Director of Educaterers said: “My gratitude goes to our hard-working school catering teams who have ended another busy year by getting into the festive spirit and offering the children a brilliant Christmas lunch. I’d like to wish all our staff, schools, pupils and parents a very Happy Christmas and New Year.”
