This week marks National Road Safety Week (19th – 25th November 2018) and Warwickshire County Council’s Road Safety Education Team has launched a new campaign – THINK who’s looking.
The aim of the campaign is to encourage parents and other adults, such as grandparents and carers, to think about how their actions impact on children and the importance of forming good road safety habits when out and about.
The campaign is based around a set of 7 humorous postcards, each one looking at the good and bad habits that a child might pick up from a grown up. Designed to make the campaign memorable for adults, the images highlight good road safety practice and will re-enforce that children do copy what they do.
Councillor Jeff Clarke, portfolio holder for transport and planning, said:
“The good habits provide a positive strategy to address the key issues that all parents face - a road safety code for parents, if you like. Children in Warwickshire learn the Road Safety Code and we are asking parents to do the same.”
Parents of children in reception classes throughout the county will receive a THINK who’s looking postcard, height chart and colouring sheet from their school between now and the end of the year.
