Unsafe and illegal parking outside schools is one of the biggest concerns for schools, parents and local residents.

Some of the most common concerns we are contacted about include:

  • Parking on the yellow zig-zag markings
  • Parking on a junction
  • Blocking pavements and driveways

Reporting incidents

Obstructions and dangerous driving can be reported to Warwickshire Police by calling 01926 415000 or 101.

Cars and kids don’t mix

Dangerous and inconsiderate parking, particularly at drop off and collection times is an ongoing issue for most schools.

The Cars and Kids Don’t Mix campaign is a National campaign that Warwickshire Road Safety Team offers to all Warwickshire schools. This campaign encourages parents and other adults – such as grandparents and carers – to think about how and where they park outside schools and to take responsibility for helping to keep their children safe.

Schools participating in this campaign receive a large, bright ‘Cars and Kids’ banner for their schools’ railings and leaflets for parents and carers with useful advice for parking legally and safely.

Road Safety Education Team and Safer Neighbourhood Teams are working with Warwickshire schools to ensure the Cars and Kids Don’t Mix message reaches parents through a combination of education and enforcement.

This campaign forms part of the Warwickshire Road Safety Team educational programme and is available for all Warwickshire schools free of charge.
