Local growth funding
The Transforming Nuneaton programme has been allocated funding from the Local Growth Fund, administered by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership, to kick start delivery. This funding will be used to take forward key development sites within the town centre and initiate detailed design work on upgrades to the ring road.
Future High Streets Fund
Administered by DMCLG the objective of the Fund is to renew and reshape town centres and high streets in a way that improves experience, drives growth and ensures future sustainability. Nuneaton town centre has progressed to stage 2 of the application process and NBBC are now preparing a proposal which will be submitted to government in the summer of 2020. Further updates will be provided when available.
On 6 September 2019 the government invited 100 places to develop proposals for a Town Deal, as part of the £3.6 billion Towns Fund – Nuneaton town was identified as one of these towns. There are two stages to the process to access funding – the first is to establish a Town Board and agree a Town Investment Plan (TIP) by Summer 2020. The second stage will then involve using the TIP to put together a business case to apply for funding. Proposals should drive long term economic and productivity growth through investment in connectivity, land use, economic assets including cultural assets, skills and enterprise infrastructure. NBBC are leading on this and further updates will be provided when available.
