nigel minnsThe aim and vision of the People Directorate is to support people, especially the most vulnerable and disadvantaged by enabling them to access every opportunity and to enjoy, achieve and live independently.

People Directorate commission and provide social care and public health services for all ages.

People Directorate is made up of the following four Business Units:

People (Strategy and Commissioning)

Assistant Director, Becky Hale

People Strategy and Commissioning focuses on the development of strategy and the delivery of commissioning intentions for People and Public Health across the following three areas - Health, Well-being and Self-Care, All Age Integrated and Targeted Support and All Age Specialist Provision.  

Adult Social Care (Service Delivery)

Assistant Director, Pete Sidgwick

We support older people, people with a disability or long-term illness, adults with mental health needs, and carers to identify their strengths and the support they have available from their personal networks or the wider community. We also safeguard adults whose circumstances make them vulnerable, to protect them from avoidable harm.

Children and Families (Service Delivery)

Assistant Director, John Coleman

We intervene early to tackle problems emerging for any child, young person, their family and vulnerable adults who are at risk of needing help with daily living. Our aim is effective intervention which delivers better outcomes for everyone and includes better value for money for the Council.

Public Health (Strategy)

Director of Public Health, Dr Shade Agboola

We maintain oversight of all public health statutory and non-statutory commissioned services, health and wellbeing, health improvement, health protection, healthcare public health, influence the wider determinants of health, produce joint strategic needs assessments and health and wellbeing strategy, interface with the NHS, lead on the Prevention and Population health agenda as part of integration of health and social care.
