Activities and keeping busy

There are lots of changes happening because of coronavirus. This page shows services that may be of help for individuals with a Learning Disability and/or Autism and some of the resources available.

Learning Disability Wellbeing Hubs 

The hubs offer information, workshops, advice, signposting and support to people with learning disabilities and autism. 

Support is still available from the hub teams, mostly through telephone or online sessions including quizzes and crafts. More information on activities they are running and who to contact can be found on the area websites:

Community Adult Autism Support Service – CAASS

Children and Young People’s Community Autism Support Service - (CYP CASS)

The service is offering support to children and young people living with autism and their families who have previously been referred to the service. The universal offer includes emotional and practical support, guidance, information and/or signposting for parents/carers, online parent support forum, parent/carer information webinar sessions and online resources.

Grapevine 

Grapevine usually holds “Speaking Up” groups across Warwickshire for individuals with a disability. These monthly sessions often include discussions around planned topics and sharing of information.

Currently, Grapevine is running these groups for people to join online using Zoom. These are weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays. On Mondays, activities such as a quiz or baking are led by members of the group. Wednesdays are focused on learning a new skill, such as online safety or creating a self-care plan.

Adult Community Learning 

Adult Community Learning is not currently running face-to-face courses but is delivering their sessions live via Zoom. Courses include:

  • Life skills
  • Basic cooking skills
  • Music
  • Drama

Physical Activities

Staying active is a great way to keep busy and stay healthy.
