Infection control guidance

Schools and nurseries can be common places for the transmission of infections. The best ways to prevent and manage infectious disease in your school/childcare setting is to:

  • Promote immunisation and vaccination uptake among parents and staff.
  • Promptly exclude the unwell child or member of staff appropriately.
  • Ensure that effective hand washing is being carried out routinely, that there is high standards of personal hygiene among staff and children.
  • Maintain a clean environment at all times.
