Understanding Your Pregnancy and Understanding Your Baby

Warwickshire midwives and health visitors use these guides in the work that they do with children and families. The guides are available online free for Warwickshire residents to complete at your own pace with resources to help you prepare for pregnancy, labour, birth and building a relationship with your baby.

Children and family centres

Family support workers are based in all the children and family centres and offer advice and support over the telephone or face-to-face. They also run a range of parenting programmes and workshops on specific themes such as:

  • the Triple P programmes
  • family nurturing
  • managing children’s behaviour 
  • sleep
  • toileting

HENRY - healthy start, brighter future  

HENRY is a free 5 week programme to support the whole family make positive lifestyle changes, for a healthier, happier home environment. The HENRY programme will support your family with parenting confidence, sleep and behaviour management, fussy eaters, portion sizes, finding a balanced plate and activity ideas for the whole family. It is delivered by health visitors on a one-to-one basis. Find out more.

Bump to 3 – Antenatal and Postnatal Courses in South Warwickshire

A number of different courses from antenatal to toddlers, for which there is a charge. Find out more.

Gentle Touch Parenting

Run a number of different classes for parents of babies and toddlers. There is a charge for classes. Find out more.

Care for the Family – Time Out for Parents

Care for the Family offer a range of parenting courses to support you and to help you build a strong and secure relationship with your child, whatever their age. They are run in community venues around the country and are usually made up of six 2-hour sessions, led by trained facilitators.

Parents Together

This is a free online course run by Family Lives consisting of six interactive modules with examples, quizzes, pictures and audio content. It is aimed at parents of children up to age five but would also benefit parents of children up to age eight. There is no time limit to complete the course.

Note: this course requires Internet Explorer or Google Chrome to run. It will not run on iPads or mobiles using Safari.

To register, email [email protected] with your full name, the first part of your postcode and your email address. Allow 10 working days to be sent an email link to the course with a unique username and password.

Future Learn Babies in Mind

Why the Parent’s Mind Matters: find out how parents and caregivers influence children’s minds, from conception through infancy. This free online course is designed for weekly study (4 weeks at 4 hours per week).

Note that free access to this course is for six weeks, with an optional upgrade to £42 after this time.
