Most childcare providers looking after children under the age of 8 must register with Ofsted unless they do not need to register.
Childminders could opt instead to register with a childminder agency where the agency is Ofsted registered.

Ofsted will check most providers to see if they meet the requirements for safety, learning and development. If not, Ofsted will tell the provider how to improve and when they need to improve by.
