What is the Academy?

In Warwickshire we put children and families at the heart of everything we do so that they are supported to lead safe, healthy and independent lives. However, we know that in order to achieve this, it is essential that our Children and Families workforce have continuous professional development.

Our Academy brings a new approach to learning and development in the service. We are a learning and evidence based organisation:

  • we teach – through workshops, learning sets and group supervisions
  • we learn – through our experiences and our teaching
  • we reflect – on our own individual practice and as a team
  • we act – in accordance with need, policy, procedure and the law

The Academy hosts:

  • training – regular, meaningful and applicable to practice
  • coaching – to get the best out of you and to support wellbeing
  • webinars – group learning and sharing of experiences and ideas
  • learning support – to help you manage your social work education

The work of the Academy is informed by the voices of:

  • children and young people – our focus and priority at all times
  • families – building meaningful relationships to support change
  • professionals – working together to support and protect
  • partner agencies – collaborating to promote systemic support
