Rehearsals: Sundays 1.00 - 4.00 p.m. (fortnightly) at Kenilworth School, Leyes Lane, Kenilworth, CV8 2DA.
WYJO - The Warwickshire County Youth Jazz Orchestra is a group of twenty-five musicians who play music from the jazz/funk/Latin/rock repertoires from 1920 to the present day. The group offers great performing experience in a variety of venues.
WYJO enjoys increasing popularity with audiences across the county and beyond; it has been on tour to Ireland, Spain and Italy and in 2009 received a Silver Award at the National Concert Band Festival.
In July 2010 WYJO travelled to Vienna for an exciting concert tour.
Membership and joining information
Admission is by audition. Candidates should be between the ages of 14 and 21 (applications from younger, able children will be considered if appropriate) and of a standard equivalent to Grade 6. Previous experience of improvisation is not necessary, but a willingness to have a go at it is!
