 Schools are prepared if they have to close because of bad weather or other emergencies. They will have ways of contacting parents if children are being sent home early or at short notice.
Local radio stations play an important part in communications between schools and parents. Schools will tell radio stations when they have to close (and re-open!) For information listen to your local station, as schools are seldom able to take large numbers of phone calls directly.
