How safe are your children when they use the Internet at home?

Children can be at risk when using the Internet to unsuitable content or approaches from strangers, especially if they are unsupervised. To help protect children and give parents peace of mind that children are safe online, Warwickshire County Council has purchased a special licence for parents of pupils in a Warwickshire school to install CyberSentinel software on their home PC's for free of charge until 2011. The software is easy to install and automatically blocks pornographic and other inappropriate websites. It also monitors emails, internet chat and social networks for unsuitable content, sex words, grooming phrases and other danger words.

To download this software free of charge, all you need to do is:

  1. Obtain a pre-paid voucher code by immediately contacting your child's school or
  2. Alternatively you may email our Service Desk. You will need to provide us with the name of the school your child attends in order for us to provision you with the right pre-paid voucher code. Our email address is ictdsservicedesk@warwickshire.gov.uk

Once you have been allocated your pre-paid voucher code you will need to:
  1. Visit the CyberSentinel website voucher page page to enter your pre-paid voucher code that you have been assigned.
  2. You will then need to follow the rest of the instructions given to register and download the software.
Online support is available from the CyberSentinel website including a support handbook. A copy of the CyberSentinel Manual can be downloaded from this website. For more information about CyberSentinel, please visit their website. CyberSentinel esafety software
