Where can I get some training if I'm a professional?
Ask yourself: How much do you know about drugs and drug and alcohol issues? How confident are you in discussing drugs or alcohol consumption with someone? The Warwickshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) believe that all staff in Warwickshire, particularly those who work with young people, should have a basic awareness of drugs. This awareness will enable staff to give basic advice to someone who has a drugs problem and point that person in the right direction of where to go to get further help. Free Training Free training is available from the DAAT. There are 1 and 2-day courses with lunch provided. Each event is attended by approx 20 people and courses are very popular - so we advise you to book early to avoid disappointment!
WDAAT Training Dates 2010/11: We are still in the process of arranging training courses for this year. New dates and courses will be shown here as soon as they are known.
Am I eligible to attend? Anyone based in Warwickshire is eligible to attend. We particularly welcome charity workers, hospital staff, police officers and probation officers. What are the aims of the training? The aims are to gain knowledge of types of drugs, their names, what they look like, how they are used, what the drug strategy is, who the agencies are that work with drug users, etc. The training will improve your skills in recognising signs of substance misuse, supporting individuals who are substance misuers and knowing how to refer them on to other agencies. To book your place, email drugactionteam@warwickshire.gov.uk Please keeping watching this page for news of this year's events.
