Bermuda Goes Wild - Bermuda Lake Natural Play Project

Welcome to Bermuda Goes Wild. This project is being developed by Bermuda Village Residents Association along with many other people and organisations.

The Project

Using the landscape of Bermuda Lake and its surrounding wildlife habitats, this project will create an area for natural play so that children from the area are able to learn more about and enjoy this wonderful open space.

The idea is to use natural materials - wood, sand, rock, mud! - and ideas to create areas which encourage young people to explore, experience and investigate the natural world.

Funding has been awarded by the Big Lottery's Community Spaces programme to deliver this project. The project will create:
  • a willow maze for exploration
  • a woodland trail; with markers guiding you through designed by local school children
  • new pond dipping platforms
  • a reed walkway, encouraging people to venture off the main path and experience being amongst the reeds
  • a mining play feature, reflecting the sites links to the old coal industry in the area
  • a giant butterfly and caterpillar on the ground, created by local residents, reflecting the wildlife that lives on the site
  • the use of logs and boulders to create scrambling areas
  • a look out fort from the highest point of the site
