Warwickshire Fire & Rescue Service - Fire Engine

Water Department

We are committed under the terms of the current Model Agreement between Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Water Companies to make an annual inspection of all fire hydrants.

Four Hydrant Technicians are employed by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service to carry out the testing and maintenance of fire hydrants. This includes annual testing, repair inspection, new installation tests, advising on the requirements for mains rehabilitation schemes, resolving non-notifiable defects, investigating duplicate record reports, and dealing with general hydrant queries.

Defects to fire hydrants are reported to Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service in a number of ways by:
  • Fire Stations
  • Members of the public
  • Hydrant Technicians following annual inspection checks
  • Water Companies
These reported defects are then investigated and verified prior to an Order Number for repair being issued to the Water Companies.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service Hydrant Technicians all carry identification and can be seen on the roads in their distinctive yellow vans.

If any member of the public needs to report a problem with a fire hydrant, they can either contact their local Water Company (Severn Trent Water Ltd), their local Fire Station or telephone Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service on (01926) 423231.
