Music and Drama Service - New Charges from 1 January 2009
In order to sustain the high standard of service our customers have come to expect, from the 1 January 2009, we will be bringing in charges for the loan of vocal sets, orchestral sets and plays sets.
The charges will be payable at the point of collection and may be paid with either cash or a cheque made payable to Warwickshire County Council. Please note that, in future, we will also be making a charge for any set returned incomplete.
The list of charges applies to music and drama groups which are based within Warwickshire. We have a separate scale of charges for groups based outside Warwickshire. Please contact the Music and Drama Librarian for further details. However, groups outside Warwickshire should, as previously, continue to apply to their own local library authority for an inter-library loan on their behalf.
Music and Drama Library Charges from 1 January 2009 (Warwickshire Groups only)
Vocal Sets
£1.00 per vocal score. This charge is regardless of whether the scores are from the Music and Drama Collection or from another UK music library, via the inter-library loan scheme.
Part Song Sets
£5.00 per folder. The majority of part song sets are contained within one folder. However, sets with a larger number of copies are contained within more than one folder. In this case, the charge will be £10.00 for 2 folders, £15.00 for 3 folders…etc.
Orchestral Sets
£20.00 per set. This applies to any set obtained from another UK music library via the inter-library loan scheme. (Sets borrowed from the Schools Music Library collection at Warwick Library will continue, for the time being, to be charged at the current rate of £6.00 per month or part of a month.)
Play Sets
50p per copy. This is a standard charge which will apply to both full length and one-act play scripts. If for any reason we borrow a play set from another UK library authority, the charge will be £1.00 per copy.
Other charges
£15.00 charge for any set returned to the library incomplete. £10.00 charge for the cancellation of a set obtained from another UK library authority.
Fines
As previously, we will not charge fines on overdue sets and hope that with the cooperation and goodwill of everyone concerned this will not become necessary.
Lost or damaged copies/parts
Wherever possible, a replacement for a lost or damaged copy/part should be supplied to us. In the event of an invoice having to be raised, the full replacement costs will be due and a further charge for administration may be made.
What can you borrow?
The largest collection of music scores, playscripts and books on all aspects of music and drama is held at Warwick Library.

You may borrow single copies of music scores free of charge for three weeks. Use Library Catalogue to view our holdings.
individual membership benefits
- A request service for books, scores and plays. This service is subsidised and there is a charge.
- Delivery to your nearest Warwickshire Library for collection.
- Members of the public can visit the Music & Drama library during usual opening hours.
- All libraries have access to the Music & Drama collection via our Library Catalogue.
group membership
If you represent a school or society in Warwickshire you may borrow sets of vocal scores or play sets.
The Music & Drama librarian will allocate one ticket to your school or society and that ticket will be kept at Warwick Library for you. You will be asked to nominate one member to act as the contact person responsible. You will need to provide anyone acting on your behalf with a letter of authority.
Music & Drama societies outside Warwickshire, may borrow sets via the Inter-Library Loan Scheme. Please apply to your local library authority, who will usually borrow the material on your behalf.
how long can you borrow for?
We normally lend vocal sets for an agreed length of time to suit your rehearsal schedule/performance dates. Playsets can be borrowed for up to 3 months, renewable for one month by telephone or e-mail.
The prompt return of vocal sets and play sets, will help to ensure the smooth running of the service to all our users.
