Street lighting standards

What we do:

  • Clean lanterns and change lamps regularly.
  • Make safe any dangerous accidental or vandal damage within one hour of receiving a report.
  • We maintain 49,000 street lights and 6,800 illuminated signs and bollards at an annual cost of £4,000,000 for both energy and maintenance.

We aim to:

  • Ensure that at least 98.5% of the street lights and illuminated traffic signs that we are responsible for operate correctly.
  • Attend and repair faults within 5 working days where possible, except those which only Western Power Distribution can repair.
  • Maintain and operate illuminated traffic signs as an aid to traffic safety.
