SpeedAware

SpeedAware monitor

Our SpeedAware schemes help to address speeding concerns across Warwickshire. The schemes provide a progressive tool kit of measures developed for our communities through both the work of our Community SpeedAware Officers with Smiley SIDs (a flashing speed warning sign), temporary fixed flashing speed signs and Community SpeedAware volunteers.

There are two SpeedAware options currently available:

Option 1: The SpeedAware package

This service is chargeable and is ideal for Parish/Town Councils, Organisations and Councillors and is suitable for areas where there is some local funding available to tackle the problem of speeding.

  • 4 complete days (x 2 days x 2 officers) of SpeedAware Officer visits with flashing anti-speed signs – multiple locations.
  • Covert before and after speed surveys.
  • 2 week fixed flashing anti speed sign – where possible.
  • Localised anti-speeding campaign using plastic signs.
  • Door to door delivery of 'Slow Down' wheelie bins stickers.
  • A full report on the campaign.

Option 2: Community SpeedAware

This service is a fantastic opportunity for local people who want to take an active part in tackling speeding in their area. It is ideal for small groups such as Resident Associations & Neighbourhood Watch Groups, organisations &Councils.

  • Free 2 week loan of a Smiley SID flashing sign staffed by local volunteers.
  • Full training given on site to a minimum of 2 volunteers.
  • Volunteers can be members of the local council/organisations & Neighbourhood Watch groups.
  • Signs can be used throughout the community subject to a site survey undertaken when training new volunteers.
  • Full support from our Road Safety Team.

Please feel free to contact us to discuss the above schemes. You can apply for either scheme by downloading an Application Form for SpeedAware and sending it to the Road Safety Education Team via email or post.
