In order to achieve this, the Parenting Development Team will be running a number of Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) courses for practitioners over the coming months. Details for each course, including:

  • Course outline information;
  • Applying for a place;
  • Training and accreditation dates;

are included below.

Finally, if you are interested in applying for a place on one of these courses, we would urge you to carefully read the important information included in the Requirements and criteria for all Triple P parenting training programmes section towards the bottom of this page.

Courses

Skill Training Courses

The Parenting Development Team have co-ordinated a programme of skill training courses for the family and parenting workforce across Warwickshire. This programme has been carefully planned in response to feedback from Parenting Practitioners. Professional development is recognised as a priority towards ensuring the delivery of high quality services to families with the aim of continuing Warwickshire's progress in improving outcomes for children and offering the best possible opportunity to be the best they can be.

The programme includes the following skills training courses:

  • Life Stresses and the Impact on Parenting
  • Developing Confident Communication Skills
  • Cognitive Behaviour Approach in Parenting Intervention
  • Managing Resistance in Service Users

More training courses will be added to this list. An application process will be in place for these courses. In the first instance priority will be given to those practitioners who have been trained to deliver Triple P (or other parenting programmes) and who are facilitating parenting programmes either in groups, seminars or one to one with families. However, please do not hesitate to give the team a call to discuss a request for a place on one of the courses.

Requirements and criteria for all Triple P parenting training programmes

There are different requirements and criteria for each course so please read the information clearly and a member of the team will be happy to talk about any issues or queries you may have.

A training agreement will need to be signed by yourself and your line manager committing you to delivering courses once free training has been accessed.

We do have a cancellation policy attached to the training agreement that we would advise you to read.

If the Triple P course you are looking for is not listed here, please contact a member of the Parenting Development Team. If there is enough interest in a programme, it may be possible to book training.

Criteria

All courses in this section will allow you to deliver an evidence-based parenting programme. Experience of working with groups would be useful, but is not essential.

Places will be allocated giving priority to practitioners who are able and supported to make a commitment to delivering parenting groups.

Who should attend the parenting training courses?

If you are a practitioner working with children, young people and families and you work for a voluntary, statutory or community agency then these courses are for you. Active support from your line manager is crucial. No formal qualifications are necessary.

Terms and conditions

If you are interested in applying for one of the advertised courses, you are advised to access the Triple P website to make sure that this training is appropriate for your service and your professional development.

Please ensure that you will be in a position to deliver the evidence based programme to parents as soon as possible after the training and The Parenting Development Team will be pleased to support and advise you.

A variety of teaching tools are employed throughout the programme, including rehearsal (role play?) which you will be expected to incorporate into your learning and programme delivery.

This training includes an accreditation process, the dates of which are made clear when you book your training.

Delegates are advised that accreditation is part of the training progreamme and must be undertaken. Up to six hours of preparation is advised for the accreditation. If for any reason you request to cancel your accreditation, you will need to complete your accreditation within six months of completing the course. This may involve you being required to travel across the UK.

Practitioners will be charged for the cost of the course if they do not stick to the training terms and conditions.
