Music Centres

There are four County Music Service Area Music Centres which provide a range of ensemble and tuition activities during early evening and Saturday mornings for 30 sessions over the year.

The ensembles are part of a carefully planned programme of musical activities to suit all tastes, ages and abilities.

Choose your area music centre for contact information and details of what activities are available near you:

Please email us at cms@warwickshire.gov.uk, telling us:

  • Which Centre you'd like to join (Central, East, North / Nuneaton & Bedworth, South)
  • Your name and address
  • Telephone number
  • Date of birth and age
  • Current school (from Sept 2011)
  • Instrument
  • Teacher's name
  • The standard you've reached (approx)

or email us at cms@warwickshire.gov.uk

New pupils should complete an enrolment form and medical / photographic consent forms and return to CMS (available to download on each area page - see above). Invoices will be sent prior to the start of each term

What happens if an area music centre closes?

Where a music centre has to close because the school in which they are sited has closed (e.g. due to bad weather), the music centre will make every effort to make up this lesson. Where this proves impossible a refund will be made. We will inform you as soon as possible regarding any closures or for further information, please contact the CMS Office on 01926 742630.

Tuition

Unless notice is given it will be assumed that pupils are continuing with tuition and a place will be reserved for the following term. This includes over the summer break (see Tuition Fees).

If pupils are unable to attend lessons the music centre should be notified. If a teacher is unable to attend, the lesson will be made up at a later date or refunded. In the event of bad weather please check for centre closures on your local radio, Warwickshire County Council school closures site or contact your local area office.

All pupils receiving individual/shared tuition at the music centre are expected to attend a music centre ensemble. If a suitable group is not available we would recommend attending a choir or music theatre group.

Concerts will take place throughout the year and it is expected that your child will be available to perform. Details will be made available well in advance via tutors, newsletters and the website.

Tuition fees

Tuition fees will be charged at the following rates - based on 30 lessons over 3 terms:

Individual Tuition Fees for 2011-2012 - 20 minutes: £110.00 per term, 30 minutes: £165.00 per term

Where more than one child is invited the cost will be shared.

Group Activities: £20.00 per term - Choirs: £10.00 per term (Choristers £15 per term)

Specialist Groups and Theory:

please see separate sheet for all group activities available in your area and the costs for specialist groups and theory (click on your area above)

Invoices will be sent out shortly after enrolment and subsequently before the start of each term. All fees must be paid in advance, we regret that students will not be able to attend activities until fees are received and no refunds will be made for late payment. The financial commitment is for a full term and lessons can only be stopped by giving notice in writing a minimum of 4 weeks before the end of the music centre term. Failure to do so will result in full charges for the following term.
