| The Core Strategy will contain the vision, objectives and strategy for minerals development and provide the framework for minerals development control. |
| | | |
 | The Core Strategy will be a Development Plan Document which has to be in conformity with the Regional Spatial Strategy for the West Midlands.
The preparation of the plan has been delayed following the Preferred Options stage for reasons that are set out below. To date the following stages have been completed:- | | | |

 |
Preliminary Stage
A preliminary consultation has been completed, which asked what topics and issues are important to you. |
Between 20th February 2006 and 3rd April 2006 we asked you for your views, set up a Minerals Development Forum, held a Minerals Development Consultation Workshop and held seven roadshows.

 | | | | | | |
 | Issues and Options Stage
Issues and Options, the second stage of consultation, has been completed. You were asked for your views on the Minerals Core Strategy Issues and Options paper.
The consultation ran for a six week period from 28th July until 8th September 2006. During this time we held a minerals forum to gain the views of stakeholders involved in the minerals industry, a minerals workshop for the public to have their say and held seven 'drop-in' sessions at libraries across the county.
The responses we received during the consultation period will be considered in the preparation of the Preferred Options and Proposals paper.

 | Preferred Options Stage
The six week consultation period for the Preferred Options paper ended on 14 March 2007. We asked for your views on the preferred options set out in the Minerals Core Strategy Preferred Options paper.
The Questionnaire is available to view in a PDF format.
There was also an online questionnaire which allowed the questionnaire to be answered and submitted to us online.
The completed questionnaires have been reviewed and the responses can be found here.

 | Next steps
Consultation on the Submission Draft paper was due to begin in June 2007. This has now been delayed, as we were required to produce a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) prior to submission.
Furthermore it has been agreed with Government Office West Midlands that in order to deliver the strategy for Warwickshire it will be necessary to identify strategic sites. Therefore it is now proposed that a Core Strategy only will be produced which will identify strategic sites. This is a major change in direction and will require a lot more detailed evidence and site information to be in place by the time the Core Strategy is submitted for examination.
Summary Paper and Request for Sites
We have therefore produced a Summary Paper to explain how the Minerals Development Framework is progressing since the change to the Minerals and Waste Development Scheme following the completion of the Preferred Options in March 2007. This re-assesses the issues in the light of new policy guidance. This is summarised in a covering letter dated 30th July 2008.
We are now requesting that landowners and developers come forward with potential sites for consideration for allocation in the Minerals Development Framework. These will be included in the Revised Spatial Options Document in January 2009 when further consultation will take place. We are requesting that any sites to be put forward for consideration should be sent to us by October 31st 2008. Alongside the document we have produced a Site Allocation checklist which should be completed if you wish to submit sites for consideration. Any general comments about the Paper can be sent to us via post or email to us at planningstrategy@warwickshire.gov.uk.
Details of the amended timetable are available in the MWDS.
