Early Intervention Business Unit

Head of service: Hugh Disley

We intervene early, to tackle problems emerging for any child, young person, their family and vulnerable adults who are at risk of needing help with daily living. Our aim is effective intervention which delivers better outcomes for everyone and including better value for money for the Council. The work we do leads to:

  • Fewer school exclusions, fewer accidents and fewer people suffering ill-health;
  • More independence and an improved sense of health and well-being; and
  • Better value for money services.

Early Intervention consists of Teachers, social workers, teaching assistants, youth workers, administrators, service and operations managers, Integrated Community Equipment, Telecare and some supported housing services.

We work in area–based teams, integrated teams for children and countywide (and regionally) for vulnerable adults. We also have:

  • CAF and Early Intervention Service - School-based support teams.
  • Family & Parenting Support Teams.
  • Targeted Youth Support – Targeted at those most in need.
