School crossing patrol information for schools/nurseries

School Crossing Patrols

Warwickshire County Council provides School Crossing Patrols to assist children on their journeys to and from school. The law authorises councils to provide School Crossing Patrols but does not require them to do so. In practice Warwickshire County Council will provide a patrol subject to the site meeting the technical criteria, the active support of the school and the availability of a suitable recruit.

School Crossing Patrol visits to nurseries

If you would like a local School Crossing Patrol to visit your pre-school or nursery to talk about what they do as part of the ‘People Who Help Us’ syllabus, then please contact the Road Safety Unit. The aim is to raise awareness of the role of the School Crossing Patrol through storytelling and song, and to encourage good road safety practice. Each child will receive a lovely Lollipop book containing a story and colouring pages, and, prior to the visit, teachers will receive a free resource pack.
