Criminal records bureau (CRB) staff checks

Working for Warwickshire

Everyone who works for Warwickshire County Council, both employees and volunteers, may be required to undertake a criminal records bureau check due to the nature of the work they do. This will include both Warwickshire County Council employees, as well as those employed within community or aided schools in Warwickshire.

Warwickshire's CRB service process checks, whether for a new employee or those that require a periodic repeat check. The process is simple and remains the same for new, as well as repeat, checks. The manager of the employee or volunteer will be aware of the requirement to have a CRB and will be aware of the need for repeat checks, should this be applicable.

All staff working for Warwickshire County Council undergo all required security checks when being brought into the organisation, and as such we provide a generic statement, as required during Ofsted inspections.

Warwickshire’s CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) Services - for other organisations

Warwickshire County Council, as an umbrella body, is happy to perform CRB checks on behalf of other organisations, especially where they are undertaking work that supports the objectives of the Council and our partners. All organisations, where the contract of employment is not with Warwickshire County Council, which includes all public, private and third sector organisations, as well as foundation schools and academies in Warwickshire, can register to use our service.

For external organisations to begin to use the Warwickshire CRB Service, they first need to register with us, providing key information about them and providing a nominated representative. Once this has been done, the organisation will receive CRB forms and guidance on what to do next. Our service is value for money and simple to use.
