County Groups Application form (Word, 42Kb)

What does annual County Group membership include?

  • Coaching by professional musicians
  • Performance opportunities in major venues in Warwickshire and beyond
  • A County Group certificate presented at school
  • Invitations (selected players) to represent the County at National Conferences
  • Courses and tours

What does it cost?

There is an annual subscription of £125.00 for 2011-12 (additional costs for County Youth Orchestra holiday courses), payable on confirmation of acceptance (please do not send cheques with your application form), which covers membership of any number of County Groups.

The fee for the County Brass Ensemble, which meets once a term, is £30 per year (no charge if you have already paid £125 for one of the other county groups).

Assistance is available where there is financial hardship and full remission of the subscription will be provided for:

  • Families who receive Income Support or Income-Based Job Seeker’s Allowance.
  • Families who receive Child Tax Credit and have an annual taxable income, as assessed by the Inland Revenue, that does not exceed £16,190. N.B. Families who also receive Working Tax Credit do not qualify to claim fee remission.
  • Families who receive the Guarantee element of State Pension Credit.
  • Families who receive support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
  • Families with Looked After Children.

University students in full-time education can qualify for 50% reduction in fees upon presentation of their student card. There is also a bursary fund managed by the Warwickshire County Youth Music Association to which applications can be made for assistance with courses and tours.

Please contact County Music Service (01926 742630) for an application form or download the fee remission application together with the accepted proof of entitlement to apply for fee remission.

No-one should be deterred from applying on the grounds of cost.

The County Groups are also part of the Warwickshire County Youth Music Association, whose aim is to promote and support performance opportunities at 'County' level (Grade 6+) for young people in Warwickshire. As a registered charity the association runs a Bursary Scheme and helps with fundraising and sponsorship.

Parents

In order to maintain their success the County Groups depend on their own 'Friends' for assistance, for example, helping to set up equipment at concerts. An invitation to join the group will be sent to you by the Director at the beginning of the academic year and all offers of help will be warmly received. Involvement in the 'Friends' is seen as participative and support will be organised on a rota basis; no great demands will be made on your time and no committee work is expected.

The Association has a executive committee elected by parents of members of all County Groups. Parents are invited to attend the AGM of the Association.
