Chesterton Windmill
Chesterton, Stratford

-
Made out of local hard limestone and with sandstone detailing, this impressive windmill stands on the hill overlooking the village and gives fine views over the local Warwickshire countryside.
It may have been designed by John Stone, a pupil of Inigo Jones, or possibly by Sir Edward Peyto himself. The tower is supported on six arches, a unique structure for a windmill.
Chesterton Windmill is occasionally opened to the public (usually for one weekend a year during either the 2nd or 3rd week of September as part of the national heritage days). For further details please contact Malcolm Murphy, Tel: 01926 336239, email: info@oncentre.co.uk.
