Tickets for the eagerly anticipated five-day Festival of Cricket in Stratford later this month are now available from Warwick Tourist Information Centre in Jury Street and Rugby Visitor Centre Centre in Rugby Art Gallery and Museum, Little Elborow Street. Fans are being advised to buy them early.
Nick Knight’s Championship-winning Warwickshire side will play two games at Stratford Cricket Club’s picturesque riverside ground, against Australian spin legend Shane Warne’s Hampshire team from the 25th to 28th May and then Scotland on Sunday 29th May.
Tickets for the four-day Frizzell County Championship game are available at £10 per day for adults and £5 for under 16s and concessions. Enthusiasts can watch all four days of the game with a special match ticket priced at just £30 for adults and £20 for concessions.
Tickets for the totesport Sunday league game against the Scottish Saltires – Scotland’s national team – cost £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. Value-for-money family tickets are also available for £20, admitting two adults and two children.
Dennis Amiss, Chief Executive at Warwickshire CCC, predicted that tickets for the Festival will sell quickly: “Last year we attracted double the normal attendance for a Championship game by staging it at Stratford, making it a very popular event. With the Bears taking on Shane Warne’s Hampshire team, closely followed by Scotland, I’m sure that demand will be even stronger this year.”
John Deegan, Director of Planning, Transport and Economic Strategy at Warwickshire County Council, which is underwriting the Festival, said: "Stratford is a major attraction in its own right, but I’m confident that even more people than normal will be visiting the town during the Festival. I’m delighted that the Tourist Information Centre in Warwick and Rugby Visitor Centres are supporting the event by making tickets available."
For those outside the towns, tickets can be purchased online from Warwickshire County Cricket Club at www.edgbaston.com or by phone from the Edgbaston Ticket Office on 0870 062 1902.
