New parking scheme for Attleborough residents

Residents of four roads in Attleborough are set to benefit from a new parking scheme, thanks to Warwickshire County Council’s Building Sustainable Neighbourhoods (BSN) initiative. People living in the Attleborough area had complained about the state of the verges as a result of vehicles churning up the surfaces in bad weather.

After consultation with residents, BSN, in partnership with the County Council Design Services team, provided driveways across verges and areas of hard-standing for properties in Waverley Avenue, and removed verges in Ivanhoe Avenue, so that drivers can park on the new hard-standing areas and footway. At the same time, the scheme replaced areas of verge in Abbotsford Road with new hard-standing areas, and tidied up Waverley Square and The Green in Ivanhoe Avenue.

All the existing trees along Waverley Avenue have been preserved to ensure the character of the street is maintained. The scheme has also created two new landscaping areas and improved public access by providing dropped kerb crossings and a short length of new footway.

Councillor Mrs June Tandy, County Councillor for Nuneaton Attleborough Ward and Leader of Warwickshire County Council, said: “This project has benefited over 200 properties and greatly eased the parking problems in the area. Now the work has finished, residents should see a real improvement.”
