The whole idea of ‘Warwickshire Direct’ is to bring Warwickshire County Council services closer to people living in Bedworth.

It’s the ultimate in multi-tasking: you can now register a birth, report a faulty streetlight and find out what time the number 57 bus leaves for Nuneaton all at the same time! But do you know where you can do all this?
On Friday 30th March, people are being invited to find out more at a special open day at ‘Warwickshire Direct – Bedworth’, based in King’s House on King Street, Bedworth.
Between 10am and 2pm, local organisations, groups and residents are invited to call in for some refreshments and a friendly chat.
Described as a ‘one stop shop’, ‘Warwickshire Direct - Bedworth’ was opened in November last year. Since then, its ‘front of house’ customer service advisors, Jeanne Newitt and Gill Brimley, have been giving visitors all sorts of information and advice on Warwickshire County Council services, from ‘care in the community’ to disabled parking.
Jeanne says: “The whole idea of ‘Warwickshire Direct’ is to bring Warwickshire County Council services closer to people living in Bedworth. They can come in and speak to us face-to-face and confidentially about all sorts of matters, from care services to schools.”
On Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons, people can also register births and deaths at the centre (by appointment).
Gill continues: “We hope that we’ll get a good turnout at the centre on Friday, and lots of people will take the opportunity to find out more. But if they can’t make it then, the centre is open every weekday from 8am. Please feel free to call in with any query and we’ll do our best to help or point you in the right direction.”
At ‘Warwickshire Direct – Bedworth’ you can ask about:
• Reporting faulty street lights
• Reporting abandoned vehicles
• Care in the community
• Leisure centres and parks
• Jobs at Warwickshire County Council
• Disabled parking
• School queries
• Bus timetables
• Your local Councillor
The centre is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 5.30pm (closes 5pm on Fridays). To make an appointment with the Registrar on a Tuesday morning or Thursday afternoon, phone 02476 348944 or 349948.
