 | Parents may request up to 10 days holiday in term time for their child. However, the Head Teacher will only be able to authorise such leave where there are exceptional circumstances that justify it. Lower costs or easier availability will not, of themselves, be a reason to authorise. Parents/carers should always give as much notice as possible of a holiday request, but must give at least six weeks' notice, using the appropriate form which can be obtained from the school.
Unnecessary absence during term time can have a very damaging impact on a child's achievement. For this reason, parents who continue to take their child on a term time holiday despite authorisation having been refused may, under some circumstances, incur a fixed penalty fine issued by the local authority.
