| Comments | All schools have two days when teachers are being trained and when pupils are not in school. These are included in these dates. Schools also have three other training days which are set by individual schools. The use of these five days for training purposes is a national strategy.
Parents who wish to take their children from school in term time, for example for a family holiday, should first apply to the headteacher for permission. This is not a right that parents have and every effort should be made to avoid taking pupils out of school so that their education is not disrupted. The maximum absence that may be arranged is 10 school days in any school year, from September to August. If dissatisfied, contact the Directorate Complaints Officer (01926-742070). Further details of this directorate's complaints procedure are set out on a separate page.
