Hill Close Gardens

Warwick, Warwick

Hill Close Gardens are situated next to the racecourse off Friars Street in Warwick.
-
They are a rare survival of something which was very common in the last century: a group of hedged gardens, on the edge of the town. They were used and enjoyed by the shopkeepers and professional people who lived over their businesses in the town centre and had little or no gardens attached to their premises.

The gardens have recently undergone major restoration along with their Victorian brick built summerhouses. There is interest all the year round with spring bulbs and blossom, fine herbaceous borders and unusual varieties of fruit trees, plants and vegetables.

A large glasshouse has been erected with a display of exotic plants and there is a new "green" visitor centre serving light refreshments including local apple juice and fresh cakes. Plants, produce and gifts are on sale.

Children are well catered for with garden trails to suit all ages and a special children's activity corner in the centre.
