| Enforcing Speed Limits |
Although the County Council sets the speed limits, it is primarily a Police responsibility to enforce the law when a speed limit is abused. |
Safety cameras are used in Warwickshire to reduce the number of people killed or injured on the counties roads by encouraging motorists to drive within the speed limit and stop at red lights. |  | |
For sites that do not meet these criteria, a small amount of enforcement may be available through a scheme SpeedAware Enforcement. |
We also have close ties with other agencies in the partnership, especially with Warwickshire Police, who deal with speed enforcement issues. The Police, especially on a local level, may be able to undertake enforcement outside of a casualty reduction criteria, however this will need to be discussed directly with the local Police. | | |
