CA - Corporate Assessment
Corporate Assessment is part of the Audit Commission's CPA framework. It focuses on the importance of a sound organisation to provide good services. It measures how effectively the council is working corporately and with its partners to improve services and deliver improved outcomes for local people.

DoT - Direction of Travel
A 'direction of travel' label is given to a council alongside its CPA rating. It describes the progress the council is making towards achieving improvements. The direction of travel labels are:
- Improving strongly
- Improving well
- Improving adequately
- Not improving adequately
- Not improving

JAR - Joint Area Review
The Joint Area Review is an element of the Corporate Assessment process. It assess:
- what life is like for children and young people growing up in Warwickshire around the five outcomes of Every Child Matters
- whether they are healthy, enjoying and achieving, staying safe, making a positive contribution and achieving economic well-being
- how the council works with other organisations providing Children and Young People's Services

KLOEs - Key Lines of Enquiry
The KLOEs provide the framework and criteria the inspectors will use to assess evidence about how effectively the council is working.

Performance Indicators
A way of measuring how a service is performing against its objectives. Performance indicators may be collected for local or national purposes.

Service Assessments
Service assessments look at the performance of six key services areas
- work with children and young people
- adult social care arrangements
- payment and collection of benefits
- cultural services
- environment
- housing
Service assessments are carried out annually using a mixture of performance indicators and inspections by external bodies e.g. Ofsted. Service assessments are part of the Audit Commission's CPA framework.
