| Welcome to Road Safety Engineering |
The number of people killed or injured on the County's roads is improving year on year, however every personal injury crash causes immense suffering, distress and cost to our community. The Road Safety Engineering Team improves the safety of the County’s roads by identifying and treating those sites and routes that have a recent significant personal injury crash history. As speed is a major factor in many these crashes, a large proportion of our work addresses speeding problems.
The Road Safety Unit is reducing road casualties through a combination of Education, Engineering and Enforcement. The Safety Engineering Team which is part of this Unit incorporates all three of these factors in the work we do. |

Not surprisingly we receive a very high volume of requests for safety improvements, mainly to address speeding problems. As our resources will never be able to address every road safety issue in the County, our work needs to be prioritised using road safety intelligence to maximise the benefit our work will have.
The majority of engineering work is prioritised by assessing crash and speed data, however our Team also undertakes Road Safety Audits and liases with the community and its representatives to make our roads safer. |
